What is a Cinnamon Dolce Latte?
A cinnamon dolce latte is a warm and comforting espresso-based drink that blends the sweetness of cinnamon syrup with steamed milk and rich coffee or espresso. (Our recipe doesn’t require the use of an espresso maker, so you can enjoy this delicious latte without the espresso!) This latte is known for its signature combination of warm spices and creamy texture. Whether you enjoy it hot or as an iced cinnamon dolce latte, its delightful flavors make it a popular choice all year round.
Why make this Cinnamon Dolce Latte Recipe?
Creating your own homemade cinnamon dolce latte is both rewarding and simple. Here’s why you’ll love making it at home:
- It’s budget-friendly. Skip the coffee shop prices by making this at home.
- It’s customizable. Adjust the sweetness or substitute with plant-based milks like oat milk or almond milk.
- It’s loaded with natural ingredients. Use real maple syrup or brown sugar for a naturally sweet and robust taste.
Cinnamon Dolce Latte ingredients
- Strong, black coffee or espresso: We personally like Purity coffee and use a simple drip machine or a pour-over. You can also use an espresso blend and a stovetop mocha pot if you want a more traditional latte.
- Milk of choice: Non-dairy milks will work for sure, but they will not foam as much as regular milk or even half-and-half.
- Homemade cinnamon syrup: You’ll combine water, brown sugar, and cinnamon sticks to make this at home.
- Cinnamon: You can add ground cinnamon to your coffee grounds before brewing, add some cinnamon to the coffee itself, or even use a drop of Cinnamon Bark Vitality essential oil.
- Maple syrup (or sweetener of choice)
- Vanilla extract
- Collagen powder (optional): I absolutely love the collagen from Perfect Supplements. It doesn’t add a taste to my coffee, is glycosphate-free and grass-fed, and doesn’t upset our bellies. Collagen is optional but adds nutrients and protein!
Choosing Coffee Brewing Options
One of the things I love about this recipe is that you can truly make it with whatever you have on hand! With busy schedules and small children, we usually use a drip coffee maker during the week. The weekends are for pour-over or French press!
- Drip coffee maker: This is our everyday coffee maker that we love. It can make a pot or a single cup, which is really nice!
- Pour-over coffee: Another weekend coffee option, this is one we use camping or on vacation. (I always get worried about rentals cleaning their machines, ha! So we take something easy like pour-over to make our morning coffee.)
- French press: This is our weekend coffee option. We also love it for camping alongside this staple!
- Stovetop mocha pot: A cup of espresso is such a treat in our house. This stovetop mocha pot is easy to use, so you can make a traditional latte or other espresso drink without all the fanfare! We enjoy this espresso blend in regular and decaf. Because we use half-caffeine coffee anyway, we simply mix the two!
Choosing Coffee for a Cinnamon Dolce Latte
As for types of coffee, everyone has their own preferences and tastes. We look at food as an investment in our health, so we choose organic, certified mold-free coffee from Purity Coffee. We have also enjoyed this Swiss Water Decaf coffee for years!
The most important thing is to choose whole bean varieties and grind your coffee right before brewing. We have and love this grinder!
I hope you enjoy this recipe!
Cinnamon Dolce Latte
This easy cinnamon dolce latte will quickly become a favorite! Using simple, kitchen staple ingredients, you can make this delicious latte without an espresso maker.
Ingredients
- 8 oz strong brewed coffee
- 1/4 to 2/3 cup milk of choice
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon OR 1 drop Cinnamon Bark Vitality essential oil
- 1 Tbsp maple syrup
- Optional: 1 scoop collagen
Cinnamon dolce syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 cinnamon sticks
Instructions
Cinnamon dolce syrup
- In a small pot, simmer 1 cup of water, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, and 2 cinnamon sticks.
- Stir until the sugar dissolves, then remove from heat.
- Let the mixture cool and remove the cinnamon sticks. Store in an airtight container for up to one week.
Homemade Cinnamon Dolce Latte
- Brew your coffee according to your chosen brewing technique, making sure to brew it strongly.
- While your coffee is brewing, add milk, vanilla, cinnamon dolce syrup, maple syrup, and collagen (if using) to the well of an electric milk frother. Choose the warm and froth setting.
- If you're not using an electric frother, you can warm the milk, vanilla, cinnamon dolce syrup, and maple syrup on the stovetop. Remove from heat and mix in the collagen. This is optional, but warming the milk helps keep the latte hot! Alternatively, you can simply add frothed milk, maple syrup, vanilla, and collagen directly to your mug.
- Pour the milk brewed coffee into your mug, then top with the milk mixture.
- Sprinkle ground cinnamon on top as a garnish, and enjoy! You can also sprinkle with a bit of sucanat or coconut sugar.
Notes
- Using an electric milk frother really elevates this simple latte! It isn't necesasry, and you can definitely use a handheld frother or simply warm and whisk the milk on the stovetop.
